Location: Located in the scenic Hudson River valley of Orange County, only 50 miles from New York City, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point is a four-year academic institution and a nationally-renowned historic site. Population:  The West Point student body numbers approximately 4,400. In addition to the Corps of Cadets, West Point is home to approximately 1,500 active duty soldiers and approximately 3,000 family members. Child Development Centers:  The West Point CDC offers both full-day and hourly care for children ages 6 weeks through 5 years. Part-day preschool is also available for 3 and 4 year olds. Phone: 845-938-4458. FCC homes offer a full range of hourly, full-day and part-day care.

Schools:  The West Point School District includes West Point Elementary (PK-4) and West Point Middle School (5-8).  Both schools are located on the grounds of West Point and are part of the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA).  In order to register your child/children in West Point Schools, you are required to reside in post housing assigned on the United States Military Academy at West Point.  Students entering kindergarten much be 5 years old on or before 1 September of that academic year. Family members in grades 9-12, who reside in post housing, attend O’Neill High School.  O’Neill High School is part of the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District.  For families not residing in post housing, their children will attend the school/s in their respective district in which they reside. West Point School Liaison Officer:  The School Liaison Officer (SLO) is available to coordinate and assist school-age children and youth of military parents with educational opportunities and information necessary to achieve academic success. The SLO works in partnership with local schools to help enhance the educational experience and to serve as a conduit of information. Youth Services:  The West Point Youth Service staff is devoted to meeting the needs of middle school and high school students. The facility is located on Washington Street. It has a full court gym used for sports, dances, and instructional programs, a technology lab/homework area, art area, an area for eating, a game room for playing board games, pool and air hockey a music/dance studio, and a high school lounge. Medical Services:  Keller Army Community Hospital (KACH) is a fully accredited 28-bed facility with medical, surgical, intensive care and obstetrics wards. Services include Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, OB-GYN, ENT, Audiology, Orthopedic Surgery, Physical Therapy, Podiatry, Nutrition, and Dermatology. Behavioral Health, Optometry and Ophthalmology are located in Building 606 in the Central Post Area. Defense Service Network (DSN) Dialing Instructions

The DSN is the provider of long-distance communications service for the Department of Defense (DoD). Every installation has a special DSN number and the numbers vary by world-wide location. In order to place a call using DSN, the caller must be using a military phone on an installation. Cell phones cannot dial DSN numbers. When dialing a DSN number from a United States installation to another United States installation, it is unnecessary to dial the DSN 312 area code. When dialing a DSN number to/from overseas locations, the DSN area code must be included. The operator can be reached at commercial (719) 567-1110.
