Radiology

Provides diagnostic imaging, interpretation services and treatment to support the needs of the inpatient and outpatient departments and clinics belonging to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.

Imaging and treatment services include routine x-ray, CT scan, MRI, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Mammography, Angiography, Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Oncology.

Availability of Services

Generally, availability is open to all beneficiaries. Our first priority is to active duty members and then beneficiaries enrolled in TRICARE Prime. An electronic entry (CHCS) or a radiology request chit (SF 519a) is required. Requests from civilian providers not assigned to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth or tenant commands may be honored on a case by case basis. Radiographs may be checked out to civilian facilities provided a written request from the physician, the patient's signed release, and a valid military or dependent identification card are presented.

Appointments

Routine requests for X-ray do not require an appointment. They are completed on a walk-in basis. Special studies such as Mammography, Ultrasound, CT scan, MRI and Flouroscopic examinations require an appointment through the Radiology Scheduling Office at (757) 953-XRAY (9729). Nuclear Medicine studies can be scheduled using (757) 953-1111. For Radiation Oncology follow-up contact (757) 953-1092.
