The Family Advocacy Program (FAP) helps Soldiers and their Families recognize and prepare for the unique challenges of military lifestyles. Our services include seminars, workshops, counseling, and intervention to help strengthen the relationships of Army Families.

We are also dedicated to the prevention of domestic abuse, child abuse, and neglect of Soldiers and their Families through offering education, prompt reporting, investigation, intervention, and treatment.

Programs

1,2,3,4 PARENTS! Uses entertaining video scenes to demonstrate common parenting challenges and solutions for those with children ages 1-4 years old. Learn about ages & stages, discipline, avoiding problems building the bond. Each workshop allows plenty of time for group discussion and activities.

Active Parenting Now A video-based interactive program provides parents with the skills they need to meet the challenges of rearing children in today's turbulent society. Designed for parents of children ages 5 to 12. Topics include understanding behavior, responsibility, natural & logical consequences and communication.

Active Parenting of Teens Help moms and dads learn how to be better parents to teenagers and 'tweens. The first step in helping teens through these turbulent years is to learn something about the “Tasks of Adolescence” and what makes them tick. Topics include winning communication, responsibility and discipline, building courage, redirecting misbehavior and reducing risks.

Strengthening Stepfamilies When a stepfamily is formed, everyone needs to learn new rules: Mom and Dad need to learn how to work together as a team. Children and teens must adapt to changes. Attending this workshop will equip parents with the necessary skills to raise children within the challenging stepfamily environment. Parents will also learn solid step-family parenting advice and parenting tips such as when and how to use powerful communication and negotiation skills to strengthen marriage and family.

Couples’ Communication Our workshop is a fun and practical session that teaches the basic principles of effective communication. Getting your message across in a way that is clear and coherent is a critical skill in your professional and personal life. Learn to be a better communicator by creating the best possible climate for communicating through empathy, asking the right questions and understanding the person’s viewpoint and understand how non-verbal communication and feedback influence how your message comes across.

The Tale of Two Brains Join us in participating in this hilarious marriage enrichment workshop that discusses how men and women are wired differently, communicate differently, and most importantly, how they think differently. Based off Mark Gungor’s DVD series, Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage.

The 5 Love Languages of Children Join us for a fun-filled morning, and discover how to express unconditional feelings of respect, affection, and commitment that will resonate in their souls. Based off Gary Chapman’s 5 Love Languages of Children.

The 5 Languages of Apology

A good apology taps into your skills of communication, empathy, and trust. Even if it's a minor apology, it's still kind of a big deal, in an emotional sense. Real apologies require digging deep, making yourself vulnerable, and exposing your flaws to another human being. They're also about making amends. Learning the Five Languages of Apology will help you smooth things over in a sincere way, hit the mark and impart the full measure of your sincerity. You will have the extra benefit of being able to give targeted apologies to your valued relationships.

Unit Training

Annual FAP Command Briefing FAP facilitates the annual deskside briefing IAW AR 608-18 to all levels of command and senior NCO advisers.  Personnel are required to complete the briefing within 90 days of assuming command or responsibility and annually thereafter.  The briefing covers the installation policy which addresses family violence, command responsibility, local trends, and available resources.  To schedule a briefing, command teams should contact FAP at (270) 412-5500.

Annual FAP Troop Training The annual training is required for all Soldiers IAW AR 608-18.  This one hour training is scheduled with command and facilitated at Brigade, Battalion, or Company level.  Through this training Soldiers are informed of services available through FAP, the dynamics of family violence, reporting procedures for abuse, and the installation’s policy regarding domestic violence and child abuse.

NCO Guide to Prevention This highly interactive program focuses on E-5s through E-8s. It is designed to assist NCOs in recognizing problems at the lowest level and knowing what resources are available. The intent is to assist Soldiers and Families in resolving problems before they become a crisis and interfere in the mission. A few of the topics include effective communication, services available and shared experiences. Scheduled through interested companies. Classes are kept to 25 NCOs or less.
