Family Child Care

Our FCC providers are certified military spouses that provide full-day, part-day, hourly, evening, weekend, special needs, and long-term child care in their homes for children 4 weeks to 12 years old. We strive for low child to adult ratios, flexible hours, and family settings.

Family Child Care (FCC), Fort Hood Program

FCC Administrative Office

Darnall Loop, 1st Floor BLDG 36000 Left Corridor - Room 101 +1 (254)553-4620 M-F 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Closed Federal Holidays Email Us

The Family Child Care program is a professionally managed network of adult individuals certified to provide child care in on-post government quarters for children 4 weeks to 12 years of age and provide programs such as extended hours [for parents who must go on temporary duty (TDY) or field assignments] or special needs care. FCC homes may also offer hourly care services, part-day care, or before and after school care. FCC providers are certified after meeting basic regulatory requirements and their homes are regularly monitored by FCC staff and inspected for fire, health and safety compliance. In addition, FCC providers work to obtain National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC) accreditation using the same level of standards as CDCs and are encouraged to participate in special activities.

Kids On-Site (KOS)

We provide on-site child care, ages 6 weeks to 12 years, during meetings and social gatherings for the Fort Hood community.

Kids on Site (KOS), Fort Hood Program

Events may include, but are not limited to:

  • Enlisted and Officers’ Spouses’ Club events, volunteer appreciation luncheons, religious functions, memorial services, deployment briefings, marriage retreats, Town Hall and Family Readiness Group (FRG) meetings.
  • All unit functions at a reasonable cost to the unit.
  • Deployed units are eligible for up to 3 hours of no cost child care for regular monthly FRG meetings.

Care must be provided at approved locations and coordinated by the unit FRSA, unit Family Readiness Liaison, or Commander.

Make a KOS Reservation:

  • Call or stop by the KOS Office and speak with a KOS representative.

If parents did not reserve a slot for their child, or if they completed/updated their CYS registration after the RSVP was submitted, they will need to bring their child’s current CYS registration packet in order to receive child care as a walk-in (care space is not guaranteed and will be provided only if space is available; child care providers cannot exceed Army regulated adult-child ratios).

Parents On-Site

This volunteer-based childcare program allows for on-site care during meetings and events organized by military units. All volunteers must submit a background check.

Parents on Site Program, Fort Hood Program

Parent and Outreach Services

Darnall Loop, 1st Floor BLDG 36000 Left Corridor - Room 101 +1 (254)287-8029 M-F 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Closed Federal Holidays Email Us

Outreach Services will provide childcare training to volunteers from the military unit or organization. Therefore, the program is designed to allow the exchange of free and temporary childcare services during unit sessions when the demand for childcare is high, or when CYS is not available.

Parents and guardians of children in Parents On-Site Care must be attending the same on-post function and must remain at the site while their child is under volunteer care. Units that are interested in the Parents On-Site Care program may call Outreach Services.
