Child Development Center - Coast Guard Academy
The Child Development Center offers many programs to meet the needs of the Coast Guard community, all designed to provide an educational, safe and nurturing environment for children ages six weeks to five years old. Programs are based on the belief that children learn best by doing, and that the best learning occurs through play.
The U.S. Coast Guard Academy Child Development Center is a certified Coast Guard Child Development program and is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
The USCGA Child Development Center is located two blocks off the Coast Guard Academy grounds at 16 Farnsworth Street, New London, CT. The CDC consists of a 9100 sq. ft. building designed for children. The facility includes two infant rooms, four toddler classrooms, and two preschool classrooms, and the building is fully equipped to meet the needs of young children and has an adjacent play yard designed for various age groups.
Hours of Operation:
The center is open twelve months a year – Monday through Friday from 0645 to 1700. In August of each year the CDC Director publishes an operating calendar noting any Federal Holiday closings or closures to provide professional development for staff as mandated by the Coast Guard.
