Cannon Youth Program is open five days each week for youth ages 9 through 18. The facility offers to program for tweens (9-12 years old), teens (13-18 years old), and a school-age program for youth in Kindergarten through 5th grade.

SCHOOL AGE PROGRAM

The School Age Program provides opportunities for real-life experiences that provide growth in all areas of development. Youth participate in challenging experiences and opportunities in dramatic play/life skills, social recreation, physical education, academic and cultural enrichment, club activities, and field trips that support healthy development. Assistance is available for students to complete homework and to use computers to complete assignments, conduct research, or play age-appropriate programs. The School Age Program has earned national accreditation.

Youth can be enrolled in the Before School Program, After School Program, or the Before and After School Program. During school breaks and school closing days, the program offers full-day programming. The summer camp program provides individual and group games, swimming, bowling, roller skating, arts and crafts, and field trips to local museums and parks. The program is enrolled in the USDA food program and provides nutritious meals and snacks as part of the weekly cost for care.

The School Age program can provide transportation to Zia and Mesa Elementary Schools (based on current availability). A weekly fee is charged for the van service to and from school. Youth enrolled in Barry Elementary will arrive/depart the program from school by a public school bus. Parents will be responsible for transportation to/from school for any other schools in Clovis or Portales.

OPEN RECREATION PROGRAM

The open recreation program is designed for tweens ages 9 to 12 years and teens ages 13 to 18 years. Tweens can become involved in the Torch Club, Youth Leadership Council, photography or fine arts competitions, lock-ins, specialty clubs, Junior Youth of the Year, Theater Arts Club, or various 4-H programs.

The Open Recreation Program has over 200 current video games and six-game consoles and TV. Daily fitness, arts and crafts, leadership, and social recreation programs are offered. Eight computers with Internet access are also available for the Youth, plus a large screen TV with cable access.

Teens can explore various careers and earn college scholarship money through the Youth Employment Skills Program. They can participate in Community Service and learn valuable Leadership Skills as members of the Boys and Girls Club and Keystone Club, or have a voice for Air Force teens all around the world by becoming a member of the Air Force Teen Council, plus enjoy all the other programs that the center has to offer.
