• MONKEY ISLAND猿島(SARUSHIMA)

The closest beach to the base is Monkey Island. Although the island is quite small, it has proven to be quite interesting and extremely enjoyable for all those who have ventured upon its shores. The island is very close to the base and easy to reach by a short ferry ride. To get there, turn left after leaving through Womble Gate and you will see the ferry landing at the Mikasa Battleship monument. The ferry fare is¥1,200/adult or¥600/child for a round-trip ticket.

• MIURA-KAIGAN BEACH (三浦海岸)

The largest and most popular beach on this peninsula is Miura-Kaigan.

How to Het there: At Yokosuka-Chuo Station Platform #1, take a GREEN or RED kanji train bound for MISAKIGUCHI

(三崎口) or KEIKYU KURIHAMA (京急久里浜) Station. Get off at MIURA-KAIGAN Station. Along the beach, you will see restaurants, coffee houses, and an outdoor stage that provides various types of entertainment.

• HAYAMA BEACH (葉山海岸)

For the tireless beach stompers, Hayama also has a lot to offer. There is a long stretch of white sandy beach that forms the foreground of the Emperor's summer place making this beautiful coastline the ideal spot. Getting to this lovely area is very easy.

How to get there: At the JR Yokosuka Station, catch a train bound for Tokyo and get off at Zushi Station. In front of Zushi station, take Bus #12 from Bus Stop #3 to Isshiki Kaigan.

YUIGAHAMA BEACH (KAMAKURA) (由比ガ浜海岸)

Kamakura was once a bastion of ruling lords that controlled Japan more than 8 centuries ago. Today, it provides a historical snapshot of the past and gives an excellent beach and coastline view that we felt was noteworthy. This is a great place for those who are interested in viewing the epitome of historical preservation and walking along a white sandy beach among a throng of beach-goers.

How to 1=1et there: At the JR YOKOSUKA Station, take a train bound for Tokyo and get off at KAMAKURA Station, which is about twenty minutes away. Then, transfer to the ENODEN Line to YUIGAHAMA. The beach is a few minutes walk from the station.
