Raise Your Helping Hand

We are home to the center of volunteer recruitment, referral, recognition, and advocacy efforts for Fort Eustis. Volunteers are recruited for a wide variety of positions throughout the on and off-post communities. Individuals wishing to benefit from volunteer service may register their volunteer service and track volunteer hours. Organizations wishing to benefit from volunteer service may register their organization and volunteer job descriptions.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteers support the installation mission in a variety of capacities such as coaches, office assistants, program assistants, and much more. Joining the Fort Eustis volunteer team enables you to gain valuable work experience while helping others.

How to Volunteer at Fort Eustis

The Installation Volunteer Coordinator assists potential volunteers with locating volunteer organizations and opportunities at Fort Eustis that are right for them and assist with registration in the Volunteer Management Information System (VMIS).

VMIS is available at www.myarmyonesource.com.

The system was developed to give the Army a real-time snapshot of volunteer activities at any given time, at any given installation. VMIS provides all of the tools needed to track volunteer hours, manage and track volunteers, post open positions, print reports, and much more. All volunteer hours will be tracked through the VMIS. We offer a VMIS 101 class to make sure you understand how to use the system properly.

The Volunteer Coordinator will put you in contact with the Organizational Point of Contact (OPOC) from the organization you want to volunteer with. During this time, the volunteer and OPOC should agree upon a position in which the volunteer will serve. The volunteer must receive a copy of the position description and must register PRIOR to beginning volunteer service.

Volunteer Recognition

Each year, Fort Eustis volunteers contribute thousands of hours toward making Fort Eustis a better community. Fort Eustis truly values each of its volunteers and recognizes them at their annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. During National Volunteer Week in April of each year, we honor our volunteers by recognizing their contributions at our Annual Volunteer Recognition Ceremony. All registered volunteers are invited to attend this ceremony, where special awards are presented.

Each quarter, the Installation also recognizes the Volunteers of the Quarter for each volunteer organization at the Community Events Council meeting. For more information on this event, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at 757-878-3638.
